It may have been grey, dull, drizzly and oh so very cold yesterday but the weather just doesn’t stop play when it comes to getting married. Abbi and Simon knew, booking their wedding in February the weather was always going to be a challenge, but they never let it get to them. February 26th is an important anniversary to them too and so it just had to take place on that day. From booking right up to the last few weeks before, they have been DIY-ing like crazy. From bouquets, photo walls, pom poms and kids activity packs no details were left untouched!
The whole day was full of high spirits despite the heavens opening all morning. Once the ceremony arrived Abbi, her dad, sisters Kate and Georgie and best friend Vicky all headed to church in wellies (along with very cute page boys Luke and Jenson), clutching brightly coloured umbrellas singing the very apt song ‘We’re singing in the rain!’. Their ceremony was full of laughter too as Simon tried not to stumble over the line ‘Golds Holy Law’ (in the rehearsal he had said ‘Gods Holy War’!). The rain kept us inside for photographs, but everyone were very good sports heading outside for the longest Confetti line I’ve seen in a long time, it was also probably the most confetti I had ever seen too, which made fantastic pictures.
Abbi and Simon sped off in a New York Taxi Cab (hello, most amazing wedding car ever!) an homage to their trip to New York so I couldn’t resist stopping them en route to their reception at The Essex Golf and Country Club for some photos with it.
