Congratulations! You’re expecting a new bundle of joy into your family and now you’re thinking about capturing these precious moments with a professional newborn photo session. As a Colchester newborn photographer, I see lots of parents in the early days who just don’t know what to expect from a newborn photoshoot but I’m here to help guide you through the process and ensure that it’s as enjoyable and stress-free as possible.

At The Little Garden Studio, I specialise in creating beautiful and timeless newborn photos that you’ll cherish forever. My natural light studio based in Lawford, Essex provides the perfect backdrop for capturing those intimate and sweet moments and I know how to make you and your baby feel relaxed and comfortable during the session.

So here’s what you can expect from a newborn photo session at The Little Garden Studio:

The Session Length

Newborn photo sessions are baby-led and can take between 2-2.5 hours. I always advise parents to feed and dress their baby in comfortable clothes before arriving. Once you arrive, we’ll take our time to settle your baby, change their nappy if needed, and make sure they’re happy and content before starting the session.

Posing Style

My posing style is natural and relaxed. I prefer to capture your baby’s natural movements and expressions, so I’ll pose them in a way that’s comfortable for them. I use a variety of poses to create a beautiful and cohesive gallery of images. My studio has a range of neutral tones that complement your baby’s delicate features, creating classic and timeless photos which wont date.

Inclusion of Parents and Siblings

Parents and siblings are encouraged to join in the photoshoot. I love to capture the interaction and connection between your baby and family members. This creates a more personal and memorable experience for you and your family. I always advise parents to dress in neutral tones to complement the baby’s attire. If you don’t have anything suitable, don’t worry, I have a studio wardrobe for you and your baby to use.

Relaxed and Stress-free Environment

I understand that babies can be unpredictable and sometimes unsettled during the session. But don’t worry, we’ll take our time to ensure your baby is comfortable and relaxed. There will be plenty of time for feeding, changing, and cuddling breaks. I’ll have snacks and drinks on hand for parents, and if you’re bringing older siblings, I recommend bringing some toys or snacks to keep them entertained. In the summer months, siblings can even play in the garden between shots if they get bored.

The Final Product

Once the session is over, I’ll carefully select and edit the best images to create a beautiful gallery of photos that tell the story of your baby’s first weeks of life. You’ll receive a digital gallery of high-resolution images that you can download, print, and share with your family and friends. I also offer a range of professional prints and albums that you can purchase if you wish.
