You don’t get far into ‘wedding talk’ without someone mentioning a superstition to behold. That is I am going to be writing a few blogs that will be featuring an assortment of old wives tales relating to all things wedding, illustrated by my photographs of weddings from the last few years!
In the beginning stages of wedding planning you will be considering the time of year you want to get married. Do you want to be married on a glorious sunny day in July? Does a cosy winter wedding appeal? Before thinking too deeply you might want to take a look at this old wives tale, which declares your marital fate based upon the month of your nuptials.
Marry when the year is new, he’ll be loving, kind and true
When February birds do mate, you may wed or dread your fate
If you wed when March winds blow, joy and sorrow both you’ll know
Marry in April when you can, joy for maiden and for man
Marry in the month of May, you will surely rue the day
Marry when June roses blow, over land and sea you’ll go
They who in July do wed, must labour always for their bread
Whoever wed in August be, many a change are sure to see
Marry in September’s shine, your living will be rich and fine
If in October you do marry, love will come, but riches tarry
If you wed in bleak November, only joy will come, remember
When December snows fall fast, marry and true love will last
I think you’ll agree when you see these happy couples though that superstition is nothing to worry about! I have selected outdoor photos for all of my couples so that you can see that whatever the season you can still get beautiful photographs. We start in April and follow through the year, can’t wait to photograph some January, February and March weddings to complete the year!
