Tomorrow night voting closes for the wedding industry awards 2015. Being a part of this competition always makes me anxious and nervous, because not only do I have to keep asking for votes (from past customers) which I imagine can get really annoying and tedious! But also the competition in the photography category is always really tough. There are a lot of photographers out there and in the East of England region there are 28 of us (and thats only this region!), to be among such esteemed company is already an honour, but also to have my work evaluated by this years judges (Damien Bailey, Ross Harvey and MV Photography Collective) well, thats just an incredible amount of pressure!

However, I like to enter this competition yearly because it puts my customers at the centre of it all. The way that judging works is that average scores are taken from each couple who votes and if its high enough I then get through to the next round. After that the judges look at my work, read the anonymous comments left by my customers and make a decision from that point. So its really all down to you…

I still have to sometimes stop and pinch myself to realise that this is all real. That I’m working full time doing a job that I love, and that I get to do it for myself. Sure that means some lonely time spent at home staring at my computer screen, but its ok as I have Tagg for company now! Plus doing this for a living means I get to be a part of the happiest day of my couple’s lives. No two weddings are ever the same, and I come away from each and everyone of them with a huge buzz of excitement.
