So back in Easter this year I was lucky enough to photography the beautiful wedding day of Hayley and Paul. The warm Spring weather certainly put a spring in my step as I arrived to photograph Hayley getting ready for her big day. After capturing the little details such as the cute egg arrangement, the silver sixpence for luck and of course, Hayley’s beautiful wedding dress, I couldn’t resist making a feature of her amazing blue wedding shoes, with their signature Louboutin red sole. And whilst Hayley prepared amidst cheerful Spring flowers that would feature throughout the big day, Paul’s getting ready shots, reflected the other big theme of the day; classic 80’s romance Top Gun. Not only was it playing on the TV as the men prepared, but Paul’s cup of tea was in a Top Gun mug! (the one he drank before they started on the beers!)
It’s hard to pick a favourite moment from such a gorgeous day, but I do love the photographs of Hayley and her dad. His reaction when he sees her in her dress for the first time is brilliant and I don’t think you could find a dad more proud of his little girl on her big day!
The ceremony took place at St Andrew’s Church, Great Yeldham (where Hayley’s Mum and Dad were also married!) and it looked stunning; with the bright spring flowers, contrasted against the dark wood of the church pews. Alongside the gorgeous arches and beautiful stained glass windows, the structure of the church gave me lots of nooks and crannies to hide in and capture some moments, framed by the building’s beams etc, giving some pretty voyeuristic shots of the ceremony. As beautiful as the church was however, it couldn’t eclipse the stunning Hayley, who looked radiant in her feather trimmed dress with long train. I particularly loved the shot of her giggling as she placed the ring on Paul’s finger.
After the ceremony, the day continued at the wonderful Greenstead Hall Barn. The venue was decorated with bright yellow touches to compliment the flowers, from bunting to the disposable cameras on each table for guests to use. This was alongside the continued Top Gun theme, with table names being named after the main characters from the film such as Maverick and Ice-Man.
Before the meal, which was finished with their amazing Jaffa cake wedding cake, I took Hayley and Paul of to capture the two of them privately. From the exposed brick work, to the rustic conservatory, I was spoilt for choice for settings. I think however the ones of Hayley and Paul sat on the wall in the courtyard garden are some of my favourites. They looks so relaxed and happy, if it wasn’t for how amazing they look, you almost wouldn’t know it was such an important day in their lives.
