I’ve been looking forward to Sophie and Carl’s wedding for such a long time. Sophie first got in touch before she even really had a date in place and mentioned she had been following my work for a long time. It really was such a compliment, and so with a list of potential dates, I let her know which ones I was available for and then off they went to set their plans in stone.
After a few venue changes and ideas they finally settled on getting married in the village of Rattlesden in Suffolk, just a village or two away from where they have bought their first home together. They went down the DIY route by hiring the local village hall (which is actually a really pretty pavillion!), bringing in the suppliers of their choice and starting many projects to make their day come alive.
I loved the personal touches from this big day. Carl’s uncle surprised him on the morning of the wedding by arriving in his grandad’s Morris Minor. Carl then drove this to and from church. Whilst Sophie had her Grandma’s sixpence attached to her shoe wrapped in a piece of lace from her own wedding day.
The only thing they couldn’t control was the weather, and unfortunately their big day was a drizzly one – but only after all the important moments were captured after the ceremony. Luckily, these two were great sports and headed out into the village under a umbrella for photos I know they wont regret, even if they did get a little wet in the process!
Here’s some highlights from their big day…
