Photography is a varied job that brings together many so called ‘nevers’. Never step in a puddle with bare feet. Never put new shoes on the table. And never work with children or animals.
Children
A collective -ahhh- ripples through the crowd, as the cute flower girl skips down the aisle, revelling in her all important role. My camera will be clicking as I crouch down, capturing the moment forevermore (usually to be used when said flower girl is 21 and introducing her boyfriend to the family for the first time).
Children are brilliant at weddings. They are so photogenic, rarely camera shy and prone to doing something that I like to call, ‘a juxtaposition of mediums to create a aesthetically pleasing imagery’ or ‘mucky stains on clean clothes’
What I like most about children at weddings though, is at the end of the day I get to leave them behind. Yes it’s true, despite my ability to literally ‘get down with the kids’ and photograph them, I am not (yet) the broody type. I have years of experience as a school photographer, working with countless children to ensure I get their best smile. In photo shoots and weddings I am more than happy to jump around like a loon or shake cuddly toys whilst doing my best ventriloquist act in order to ensure the little ones are smiling for the camera, but for me I prefer the still image later displayed on my computer screen to the real life thing. Working with children is fine, they are after all, gorgeous to look at. But living with one? I’ll stick to dogs for now thanks.
Having said that, here are some of my favourite little monkeys!
Animals
Anyone who has visited my Facebook page lately will know that Friday for me is Furday…a day I always set aside time to post a picture of my gorgeous dog Tagg. I love pets and the fact that more and more people are asking my to include their beloved animals at their photo shoots is fantastic! Yes they are unpredictable, uncontrollable and at times unstoppable but boy do they look cute! I’ve had some great shoots recently with some perfect pooches, here are some of my best bits.
