Luka and Ryan booked me really last minute to photograph their wedding yesterday. In fact I met them to chat through how I work last Thursday and they confirmed they wanted me there on Monday! But I was over the moon as not only are they a really friendly, lovely couple but they were making history with their wedding day.
Luka and Ryan are the first couple to legally get married on Osea Island near Maldon where they live, and work. It’s a private island that you can only visit by invitation, or by booking accommodation and staying there. The other truly unique thing about this magical place is that it is only accessible via mile long winding coastal road, which is open for four hours a day before the tide comes in and hides it away.
Because of this remote access it meant that Luka and Ryan’s guests were all staying on the island too, which made the wedding feel like a really intimate family getaway, with guests dotted in the accommodation across the island. And best of all, despite the forecast of rain all day it stayed dry, and the sun even burst through the clouds for most of the day.
We all know I have an unhealthy obsession with dogs, and as if this wedding wasn’t already incredible, there was a very handsome dotty ring bearer by the name of Harry who did his job perfectly during the ceremony!
