So yet another month has passed us by, with the month that was February having come and gone as quickly as new year resolutions. Looking back over the last month I can’t believe how much I’ve managed to cram in! For a short month, February has certainly been a fun filled one.
I started the month with a post on ‘What happens after you book with Kerrie Mitchell Photography’, a post I hope will enlighten all of you who have just booked your weddings with me. Paying out for your wedding photography can be a bit anticlimactic as it takes so long to yield results. On the day itself you barely remember the photographer being there, so it’s not until well after the wedding when you finally see your images, that you actually reap the rewards.
That’s why I endeavour to integrate myself into your pre-wedding bubble, from capturing your excitement at your engagement shoot, emails and updates, I love getting to know my couples and this post explains how I set about doing it.
Next up was a look back at Sarah and Matt’s Marks Hall Coach House wedding. In a month when we often all feel a bit blue, this gorgeous wedding with blue wedgewood theme and pretty pale blue VW camper van, is sure to turn those frowns upside down.
Then I continued the month with another post to help my upcoming couples prepare for the big day. A rough guide to wedding timings, is there to help you plan your day minute by minute, allowing me time to ensure we capture your most precious moments. No wedding will every run exactly to plan (trust me, I’ve seen speeches over run by over an hour!) but it’s reassuring to have a schedule in mind of those key moments that you want to savour.
Then with love well and truly in the air, as Valentines Day was upon us, I got into the mood with a sneak peek of a fun at the farm engagement shoot with Jenna and Liam. We spent a day at Jimmy’s Farm, cooing over cute animals and giggling on the playground. It was the perfect setting for these two, who had their first date at Colchester zoo, I look forward to seeing if animals feature in their wedding day.
For me the most exciting post of February however has to be the announcement of my new side business to Kerrie Mitchell Photography, STYLED Product Photography. Having been sneakily working on this project for a while now, I couldn’t wait to officially launch my new vision. STYLED, is for small businesses and crafty peeps, that want stunning photographs of their products for websites and social media and so on. Hop on over to my new site for more information.
Having looked to the future for my new business venture, I then decided to look to the past, with another Weddings Past feature. To learn the story behind this picture of Kitty and Roland’s 1941 wedding, sent to me by one of my 2015 brides Kay click here.
Another sneak peek followed. This time of Natasha and Luke’s engagement shoot in Long Melford. If you missed this post this month it is definitely worth looking up. Along with a great sneak peek of one of their images, the romantic story of these two childhood sweethearts, mean this post is sure to get some ‘ahhs’.
And just in case these teasing sneak peeks were leaving you wanting more, I posted a full feature on Rowena and Tom‘s big day from last August. Set at the stunning Glemham Hall, this wedding had some classic moments which I couldn’t wait to share in full. From their gorgeous flower girl singing Frozen’s LET IT GO, to a staged row between the bridesmaids and groomsmen. Rowena and Tom were keen to make sure their pictures captured the fun and love of their big day.
Then on to a sneak peek with a difference. The wonderful Charlotte and Phil wanted their engagement shoot to be something a bit different, so when they suggested a venue significant to them both, I was most intrigued. A completely different location to your typical shoot, we had a great time in a place that gave a hint to the character of Charlotte and Phil. We also got back into the swing of things with another ‘The One With’ posts. This time focussing on that moment when the dress goes on. This part of the morning preparations is always my favourite as so many emotions from nerves, excitement and happy tears happen all at once.
Finally I rounded off the month with a look back at Abbi and Simon’s Colchester Castle Engagement shoot, which took place back in November with lots of autumnal tones to surround them. All in a bid to celebrate their wedding which took place last Thursday. Their Summer in Winter theme, (and a pretty fab yellow taxi cab car!) was my first and only wedding this month and I hope will also signify the last of this cold weather, as it marks the start of a crazy busy year!
So with an awful lot of editing to do (so many sneak peeks mean full shoots to edit) I bid you all adieu. I hope you all had a romantic Valentine’s in The Month that was February.
