Me and My Mum

You may remember, way back in March I ran a competition called ‘Me and My Mum’ for a lucky person to win a photo shoot with their mum at a location of their choice. I received so many entries and so many stories to accompany them about the reasons why each mum deserved to win, some funny, some sad and others that were just incredibly sentimental.

So when my winner was picked (by random I might add! I just couldn’t choose myself!) I was so excited for it to be with a fully grown Sarah and her mum. We often forget in our busy lives just how important out families are to us, and so for Sarah to nominate her mum I think was just so lovely. I spent an hour or so with the two of them at Hylands Park in chelmsford, where the morning dew was still covering the grass, but the sun peeked through the red, orange and yellow autumnal leaves all around us. It was an absolutely stunning day for a photo shoot, and we even managed to get it all done before the heavens opened that afternoon!

Here is their super smiley sneak peek for now….

“To surprise my Mum with a photo shoot in Essex would be a wonderful keepsake for both of us.  Living near Billericay, we often take walks (combined with the odd pub stop!) in and around some beautiful areas such as Finchingfield, Dedham, Heybridge … I could go on!

My Mum is a very sprightly 73 year old, and while some people her age may be less able, she is often found crawling round the floor chasing my son, her grandson, who’s almost 2 years old!!

I try to make Mother’s Day as special as I can as my brother lives almost 5,000 miles away (America) so unfortunately my Mum doesn’t get to see both her children as much as she would like.  My Mum is my friend too and we have some lovely memories over the years.  She deserves to win for all her love, support and baking the best lemon drizzle cake ever!”
