It may well have rained all day long on Harriet and Sam’s wedding day in July (proof that no matter what time of year you plan your wedding – the great British weather will still be unpredictable!) but with a backdrop as stunning as Spains Hall they really did have nothing to worry about.
This was a wedding although with a grand manor house backdrop, had a real family DIY feel to it as so many family members chipped in to create the details of their day. Harriet’s mum arranged all of the flowers including the girls’ bouquets and the boys buttonholes. The wooden crates on each of the reception tables were handmade by Harriets dad, the table plan tray came from Sam’s family farm and the cake was also homemade too! Even more incredible was when I learned Harriet’s dress was off the peg from John Lewis! (it’s so so beautiful!).
As I mentioned, this day in July happened to be the wettest day of the entire summer, meaning the outdoor ceremony they had hoped for didn’t happen. But I was very lucky that Harriet and Sam took the whole thing in their stride and were happy to step outside under an umbrella for their couple portraits. I secretly think Sam’s family were very happy of the rain as being farmers it meant their fields were being watered and they could take the next day off!
So apart from the rain, this wedding day went very smoothly indeed, take a look below and a few of my favourites from their wedding day…
