Back on a beautiful Summers day last August, I headed over to Suffolk to photograph Rowena and Tom’s big day. Starting off their day to glorious sunshine, Rowena and the bridal party (made up of her 3 sisters and best friend) had a wonderful morning getting ready but I think the picture of Rowena’s mum as she first sees Rowena in her dress captures the mood entirely. Whilst the girls continued with their preparations, a very smart looking Tom in uniform, was greeting his guests outside of St Michael’s Church. You have to love their take on the traditional carrying the bride shoot!
As the ceremony began Rowena and Tom looked picture perfect in their officer and a lady roles, framed within the churches Chancel Arch. As they left to a shower of confetti we were able to capture some beautiful pictures as the sun continued to blaze down on the newlyweds. After some more traditional family shots I then stole the couple away for some quiet shoots of just them. The beautifuly scenic grounds of Glemham Hall provided us with some perfect backdrops for the stunning couple. Perhaps though, my favourite moment of the wedding was the bridal and grooms party shots. Rowena and Tom were really open to ideas and keen to create some fun, lively pictures. The staged shot of the bridesmaids quarrelling with the groomsmen looks straight out of the pages of a fashion magazine-we had so much fun.
The day continued in Glemham’s marquee, beautifully decorated with pink. lilac, bunting, lace and floral touches. The speeches were met with uproarious applause and also more than a few tears. Particularly touching was the fact that it was also Tom’s parents 28th wedding anniversary, making the significance of the day all the more poignant. Then if that wasn’t enough to heighten the emotions, how about a heart warming rendition of Disney’s Frozen, ‘Let it Go’ sung by Rowena’s flowergirl, made even more special by the fact that she has also performed it at Rowena’s sisters wedding in May. A touching occasion to say the least.
