Laura + Alex – Married (Chateau Charmant Wedding)

When Laura and Alex got in touch about their wedding photography last year I jumped at the chance to be a part of their big day. I’d previously photographed Laura sister’s wedding in 2015, and referrals of this sort are always my favourite as I know half the wedding party already and turn up feeling so involved and welcomed.

Not only did I know these two were the sweetest couple and their friends and families are so incredibly welcoming. But they were planning to get married in the South-West of France in the most beautiful Chateau in the countryside… how could I say no?!

I arrived a few days ahead of the wedding to familiarise myself with the area (taking my husband Russell along to be my driver!) We stayed nearby in Aubeterre-Sur-Dronne which is a tiny town with barely any phone signal, really taking you back to basics and letting you just relax. The day before the wedding we turned up to take a look around Chateau Charmant and were blown away by the utter beauty of it.

On the day itself Laura, her bridesmaids and mum were being pampered in the bridal suite where the balcony overlooked the ceremony site, and although the day started cloudy, the sun soon came out for all the guests to bask (and sweat in!) throughout the day.

After a emotional ceremony, guests had time to play garden games and explore the chateau before speeches in the garden outside. I could have kept Laura and Alex away for photos for hours, as this place had endless opportunities and I really was in my element!
