Back on a sunny August day last year I had the pleasure of photographing Clare and Jamie’s wedding at The Reid Rooms. Clare got ready at the venue which gave me plenty of time to capture her morning, including her amazing floral Vivienne Westwood wedding shoes! The beautiful peach floral arrangements by the Traditional Vintage Flower Company were so bright and warming, they set the tone for this cheerful, heartfelt wedding day. Clare looked stunning in her lacy dress, but it was her father’s turn to look stunned, as he saw her in all her wedding dress for the first time. He looked so proud, it was clear that this day was going to mean almost as much to him as to Clare and Jamie.
As I left Clare to head to the ceremony I had to snap their wonderful decoration idea; a pretty decorated step ladder, filled with photographs of Clare and Jamie. Having met at university and lived next door to each other in halls, the couple had more than enough memories to share! As the guests filed in and Jamie waited for his bride to be, I had a chance to snap Clare as she was escorted across the grounds with her father. Then on to the ceremony, where Clare and Jamie only had eyes for each other.
Following the service I took Clare and Jamie off around the grounds to get some couple shots of the newlyweds. With Clare’s amazingly long veil, we got some stunning images, I adore the ones of them sat on the steps, a peak of her shoes, and his funky socks and a windswept veil flowing into the air!
Then it was on to the wedding breakfast. After an emotionally charged speech that left Clare a bit teary, by her dad, Jamie lightened the mood with his very cheeky, yet heartfelt speech. Yet, the speeches didn’t end there as Clare herself went on to give a speech. It is the photos after this that are perhaps some of my favourite of the day. The ones where Clare leans on Jamie for a hug, after her emotional words, a beautiful moment or support shared between husband and wife.
The afternoon continued with sunshine and I was able to get some more beautiful photos of Clare and Jamie. The ones of Jamie leaning on the veranda are so cool and relaxed, you’d think they had been married for years. Following this was the all important bouquet toss, which as you can see from the photos, caused quite a stir! I love the one of Clare looking back to see who the lucky lady was! The evening continued with dancing and I was able to get some stunning shots of the newlyweds as they took to the dance floor. Now usually that is where my photos would end, but I couldn’t not include the awesome shots of Clare’s first dance as a married woman with her dad. They danced to the classic, Twist from Pulp Fiction and I think these images can’t fail to bring a smile.
Congratulations to Clare and Jamie!
