At the end of May this year, I had the pleasure of photographing Madeleine and Darryl’s Otley Hall Wedding. When I arrived to capture Madeleine’s preparations for her big day, the sun was shining and the skies were blue. Madeleine’s home made touches were evident right from the start as I pulled up to be greeted by her ‘Bride to Be’ bunting. Whilst the ladies were getting ready I was able to photograph some of the little details that had gone into Madeleine’s preparations, including her amazing suede, dusky pink Louboutin wedding shoes, that complimented her flowers beautifully. Even the flowers can be described as DIY, as the gorgeous bouquets were created by Madeleine’s bridesmaid Belinda. As you can see from the photos of Madeleine getting ready, her brilliant bridesmaids were most attentive and I just love their reaction when they step back and appreciate the gorgeous Madeleine in in her full wedding ensemble.
Arriving at St Mary’s Church, Woodbridge I just had time to snap a very relaxed looking Darryl and his groomsmen before they disappeared into the church, allowing me to capture Madeleine’s arrival. Looking every bit as relaxed as Darryl, she even found time to get a few pictures in with flowergirl Esmee and Page boy George. You have to adore George’s confident, cheeky chappie grin and Esmee’s bashful shrug. Once the ceremony started I was fortunately placed to get lots of photographs of Madeleine’s loving looks at Darryl, they couldn’t stop smiling at each other!
After the ceremony we went outside to get some shots of the newlyweds in front of the grand church door. Even the wind playing havoc with Madeleline’s veil couldn’t blow the smile from their faces and for me it made some stunning shots! I adore the black and white one of Madeleline trying to hold on to her veil as Darryl just beams with happiness at his new bride. The happy couple then transported their guests to the reception venue aboard a vintage double decker bus…an opportunity I couldn’t let pass for some colourful couple shots.
Arriving at the beautiful Otley Hall, we left the guests to be entertained by the steel drum band, whilst we went off to explore the grounds and get some special photos of the newly weds. Madeleine and Darryl had so much fun walking hand in hand through the gardens, my camera was working overtime to capture all of amazing shots of their happy smiles. My favourites though, have to be of them sat together amidst the long grass. As we returned to the venue, more of Madeleline’s amazing DIY touches were everywhere, from bunting to the fantastic polaroids of her guests that she used as place settings. As the evening wore on it was time to cut the cake. Pay close attention to the cake pictures and you might just see two rats poking out from the back! Madeleine and Darryl chose this because they call each other rat!
Finally we come to the first dance. With the lit up ‘Love’ sign in the background, the dancefloor almost looked as amazing as the radiant Madeleine herself and although I should end there, I can’t resist drawing attention to the photo of Madeleine with her dad Graham. I think the shot of the newly married Madeleine on the dance floor with her dad as he takes her hand for a kiss, is one of my all time favourites. What an amazing day. Thanks Madeleine and Darryl for inviting me to be part of it!
