The Essex Vintage Wedding Fair

Sunday I headed to Braintree arts Theatre at Notley High School to prepare my stand for a busy day exhibiting at the ‘Essex Vintage Wedding Fair’. This wedding fair is by far one of my favourites to be involved with, not only because it attracts lots of couples planning ‘alternative’ wedding days but also because it’s a great day to spend with lots of like-minded friendly wedding industry exhibitors.

If you ever get bored of the hum-drum run of the mill wedding fairs, then I can absolutely recommend you head over to one of the Essex Vintage wedding fair’s instead. Although usually quite small (around 25 exhibitors) each and every supplier is offering an alternative selection of products, styles and ideas for your wedding day with a vintage twist of course.

The next fairs taking place are on the 29th of June in Leigh on Sea and then on the 15th of September in Cambridge (location to be announced)

So let me take you on a little guided tour of the stands I managed to photographed in between the hustle and bustle on the day.

First up there was me! Here is a quick look at my stand all set up at the start of the day. I also sneak peeked a brand new product which I will be revealing more about later this week here on the blog. For now though you can spy it in the second photo down.

Also exhibiting was the lovely Claire Spake Design. She specialises in illustration, stationery and letterpress for your wedding day creating anything from cake toppers to invitations and place settings.

Stood right next to me was the beautiful cake creations by Lucie from the Wonderland Bakery. I adore the hand painted designs on her cakes and the cute biscuits and cake-pops she offers.

Directly opposite was Sam of Violets and Velvet with a really quirky stand set up and some gorgeous floral arrangements. I specifically adored the little trophies filled with flowers, what a unique idea!

A little further down the row stood Floral Couture, who I was so excited to see exhibiting since we first met at the beginning of starting our businesses at a networking event. So it was lovely to be in the same space exhibiting so we could catch up on the past year. Luckily for us we are also working together on a couple’s wedding this year!

A few stands to my left was by far the quirkiest stand I have ever come across from the Wedding Marquee Company. They had built a tiny replica and filled it with garden wedding inspiration. Their whole table was brimming with vintage wedding ideas and cute details. showing how you could make your marquee into a quaint country fete affair.

Latimer Bride’s were also at the fair exhibiting their hand made birdcage veils, hair combs and bridal jewellery. This time though I resisted from trying it all on (but only because I was so busy!)

Karen and her mum were also exhibiting as well as arranging the whole fair! They had a table set up of their vintage crockery for their sister company ‘Calamitea Jane’s Tea Parties & Events’ and also had a host of sweets and cakes to drool over.

Another cake stand that caught my eye was the stand of Apple Tree Cakes and Crafts. Rebecca created the most stunning sugar flowers that look so incredibly real I couldn’t ever imagine eating them! She mentioned that one set took her around 15 hours to create. That is some serious attention to detail! I also adored the little bird cake toppers.

This was the first time I had met Nila Holden, but I loved the set up of her artisan cake and cookie stand. Aren’t they just the most adorable cookies you’ve ever seen? I love her vintage decorating elements and think they would make wonderful favours for your wedding guests. She also held a cookie decorating workshop on the day.

Lastly before packing away I took a wander down the hall to see how Claire Spake was getting on with her paper cutting workshop. She was teaching couples to make this lovely ‘mr and mrs’ bird cut out which could then be used as invitations for wedding guests.
