I’m always surprised how quickly the time comes around for me to compile this annual blog post, it always seems time rushes by so fast in the thick of wedding season that there is barely a moment to stop and think how quickly the year is going by. But when the season does end and all my clients are happily holding their wedding photos in their hands my mindset shifts and begins to concentrate on the new year, and the new couples that I’ll be working with in 2016. After The Wedding Industry Awards, I like to take a day to look back on my previous years work, read through the amazing feedback left by my customers and compile some fun blog posts for you all to see. Today’s is all about the fun myself and my second shooter’s get up to behind the scenes on your wedding days. We usually can’t help but capture each other in strange scenarios and unflattering positions and of course pulling some add expressions whilst the other uses us as a stand in for the “real photo” later on.
This year I have been so lucky to have found Gemma to work alongside me. An upcoming wedding photographer, Gemma is in the first year of running her own business and chances are if I photographed your wedding this year Gemma was there, as she joined me for the majority of my weddings and I hope she’ll continue to accompany me next year too. She quickly learnt how to work well with me, helping to arrange groups, fetching things before I knew I needed them and helping to cover both bride and groom prep when timings were tight. Her company this year has been so fun and I know lots of you loved having her there on your wedding days too.
As well as Gemma I was also joined by Sally, Emily, Ashley and Helen all incredible wedding photographers in their own rights who gave up a few of their weekends (and weekdays) to assist me this year. These ladies are incredibly fun to work with, and having them along on a wedding day really just feels like having a day trip with some friends!
Before you start to scroll down a few things;
- I clearly need more clothes as I appeared to wear the same variation of two outfits at almost every wedding this year!
- No cakes were damaged in our ‘posing for the cake shot’ photos!
- Please ignore the general sweaty-face greasy/dodgy hair shots, shooting weddings is hard work!
So onto what you’re all waiting for, all the action behind the scenes from 2015…
Gemma takes her dance floor light testing role very seriously…
Can you spot me?!
I also remove bugs from wedding dresses alot…
I look bossy here, I promise I’m not!!
Helen in my coat, getting the perfect angle for a silhouette…
Not even Milos from Cupcake Videos escaped out behind the scenes escapades this year!
I make Gemma do so much!! (thank you!!)
Gemma, sit over there and pretend to be a guest while I test my flash…
taking my ‘putting on the dress’ role seriously
The time I took all the guest photos in the rain…
and how I teach posing apparently!
I help a lot of brides into their shoes…
‘Oh thanks for following me into this field… can you go over there now!’ (I really do promise that I’m not bossy!)
Note this terrible angle… Spot me in the mirror?!
Thanks to all of my incredible couple’s this year for making not only me but all of my second shooters so welcome this year. We seriously had a load of fun, and looking back on these images takes me right back to your amazing wedding days! Now roll on 2016 so we can do it all over again!
