As I type this I can’t help but see the downpour of rain outside my window. It is a truly miserable day outside, which is a total contrast to the wedding of Jane and Ryan this Saturday just gone. Starting the day at Fennes in Braintree, as soon as Gemma and I arrived we were hit by a wall of heat, it was probably the hottest day of the year so far! We headed upstairs to meet Jane and her bridesmaids and mum who were all getting ready very calmly despite the humidity. As the time ticked on the excitement started to build in the room as flowergirls Adrienne and Sophia arrived, and Jane’s hair was finished.
Their ceremony took place in Bocking at St Mary’s Church, which provided a nice cool sanctuary from the sun beating down outside. Arriving early Jane and the girls made their way up the long path to wait outside the church doors. Inside Ryan and his best man (and twin brother) Daniel took their positions at the top of the aisle ready for the girls to enter. After the nerves of walking down the aisle, a really lovely personal ceremony followed, where Jane and Ryan literally grinned from ear to ear the entire time. With the formalities completed they then stepped back into the sunshine as husband and wife to a long confetti line leading to their car.
After a short drive around the countryside the new Mr and Mrs Wicks rejoined their guests back at the Fennes. Garden games kept everyone amused (not just the children!) and there were competitive cheers as boules were thrown and croquet tournaments took place. During this time I borrowed the newly-weds for a few photos in the shade around the gorgeous grounds of the Georgian House.
Struggling to pick just one shot for a sneak peek, I decided on two today. One being very iconic of their wedding venue and as they were so tiny in the frame I thought they deserved a second close-up too!
