As we all know, on Friday it was WET. The rain just didn’t let up for a second, and there was just nothing we could have done about it! Living in England the weather is just one of those things that we cannot predict, not matter what time of year you decide to plan your wedding for!
When I arrived at Spains Hall to meet Harriet, the rain wasn’t ruining anyones mood. Harriet was relaxed, sitting back being pampered by Sarah Drummond and preparing herself for the day ahead. The room was so relaxed in fact, and her bridesmaids Libby and Harriet kept her smiling and laughing all morning long. When it came time to get ready, the reality of the day set in and the room was suddenly awash with nervous energy and excitement. Harriet slipped into her gorgeous dress (which came off the peg at John Lewis!) donned a pair of Jimmy Choo wedges and was soon very ready to get to the top of the aisle to meet Sam.
Sam and the boys made their way down from the North Lodge by car, avoiding the rain to greet guests rushing in to stay dry. He and his ushers and best man (also called Sam!) did a great job at keeping everyone dry and escorting them under umbrellas inside for the ceremony.
After their short and sweet ceremony guests stayed in side sheltering form the rain again whilst we took group photos, luckily for me Harriet and Sam were also very willing to go outside under an umbrella to make use of the gardens, despite the rain! I’m so happy they did too, even in the rain Spains Hall looks amazing, the gardens still flourished with pops of colour, and if nothing else they got a very good laugh watching me trying to keep dry under a bright red raincoat!
Later on speeches followed with plenty of embarrassing and funny tales from Harriet’s Dad and The best man. Sam also managed to mention the weather, and to a room full of farmers, I think everyone had secretly ordered the rain anyway! What followed later was an incredibly busy and rowdy dance floor, all made by their band Festival Sons who had people up dancing as soon as they began!
Harriet and Sam thank you so much for being such troopers and venturing out into the rain! Here is your sneak peek to tide you over until the rest of your photos are ready very soon…
