The Perfect Camera for Your Honeymoon

Before our honeymoon to Ischia, I did some quick research for a compact camera to take away with us. As much as I love my ‘big’ cameras for work, when it comes to travelling I can’t stand them! Yes the picture quality is great and having a selection of focal lengths with my various lenses is handy… but that gear is SO. HEAVY.

On holiday I just want a small camera that I can carry all day long so that I’m not relying on just an iPhone to capture important memories.

My requirements for a honeymoon camera were that it had to be small and light, have a zoom lens and be wifi enabled.

Searching online it soon became apparent that I should take a look at the Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II, so with the 20 minutes we had to spare at the airport, I went to Dixons to check it out. Loved it, bought the display model (It was the only one left!) and headed off on our honeymoon.

So let’s look at why I think it’s the best camera for your honeymoon…

It’s really easy to use on auto.

If you’re not into learning how to control a cameras settings but you still want amazing photos this camera is your friend. The auto settings nailed the shots about 98% of the time. It’s also great to use in low light, it really handles everything for you.

But if you do want to be in full control you can override the auto settings and use it in manual mode. It’s truly the best of both worlds!

The flip up selfie screen

Is just a revelation! Taking a selfie has always been an issue with a normal camera, but flipping this screen up makes its super easy, and means you don’t have to carry one of those awful selfie sticks around with you.

I use the selfie screen for work too when i need a photo with myself in or i’m recording videos for my couples. Its very handy!

It’s the perfect size.

Small and light enough to for you not to have to worry about filling a bag up, but it’s still a really powerful camera. It’s also got a touchscreen if you don’t fancy toggling through menus – but even those are really intuitive to use.

Video Mode

I didn’t realise how important a video mode would be to me until I started experimenting with taking little videos whilst we were away on our honeymoon. I captured little clips here and there and then edited them together (on my iPhone!) to make a reminder of our holiday. Watching this takes me right back and I love re-living it.

WiFi

When you take a picture you love and want to share it right away you can send it from this nifty little camera straight to your phone. I use that feature to upload photos to Instagram whilst I’m travelling and as I mentioned above, edit fun videos of our trips.

It’s not the cheapest camera around (£499 at time of writing this post), but it has been a great investment and is definitely worth the spend if you’re looking for a versatile camera that’s not your phone! I love that I can grab this whenever we travel and not worry about having to lug a load of expensive and heavy gear around with me.

Please note: I paid for this camera myself and have written this review because I wholeheartedly love and would recommend it. This post contains an amazon affiliate link, meaning, if you click through to the product and purchase it I will receive a commission but at no additional cost to you.
